July: The Month of Freedom Born in America
Throughout the history of the American continent, July has witnessed several of the most important milestones in the struggle for independence.
The coincidence of dates is not fortuitous or merely symbolic; it responds to climatic, political, philosophical, and Masonic factors that converged in this month as the propitious framework for declaring the break with European colonial powers.
In many cases, July coincided with the Masonic calendar of leadership renewal and philosophical declarations of purpose, inspiring brothers to act in accordance with the ideals of self-determination and legitimate government.
Simón Bolívar, José de San Martín, Francisco de Miranda, Miguel Hidalgo, and other liberators were linked to Masonic lodges or formed under their influence. These leaders understood freedom as a principle that was not only political, but also moral and spiritual.
The concentration of independence declarations in July is not a simple coincidence.
It responds to a combination of climatic, strategic, and above all, ideological and philosophical factors. The Masonic calendar, the American example, and the political conditions of each region made this month the ideal setting to proclaim emancipation from the colonial yoke.
July became consolidated as the month in which the torch of freedom crossed the Andes, illuminated the Caribbean plains, and rose above the northern plains.
In many cases, behind each independence signature, there was an apron, a square, and a compass, silently guiding the strokes of a new nation.
